I really can't speak highly enough of my experience at Kindbody! While I mostly went to the Flatiron location for appointments, I went to Bryant Park for the retrieval. I felt so supported and cared for throughout the entire process. Every doctor, nurse and staff member I met at Kindbody was so genuinely warm and kind, which makes such a difference in an overwhelming process (thank you especially to Dr. Lipkin and Annalise). Everyone was very communicative and responsive to questions, and I always got the information and support I needed. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I have several friends who have recently gone through egg freezing and I've seen many tiktoks.. and I genuinely feel that my experience at Kindbody was as good as it can possibly get!

While some of the doctors are great (Dr. Seungdamrong is great) the administration/coordination at the office needs to be improved. I constantly had to follow up about appointments, lab work, ultrasounds, medications. Always having to reach out and remind them of where I was in my cycle/treatment. They were not proactive in any way. Their finance office is terrible. I had an issue with billing and insurance coverage that I ended up solving myself because they were incompetent. The best part were the nurse assistants and ultrasound techs.They were kind, caring and made me feel like they knew me. Can’t say the same for others in the practice.

Kindbody is incredibly frustrating. Most of the providers were great but I had so many issues with my egg retrieval, it created so many stressors, and that’s not even including the added hormones. Initially, although I lived out of state, they informed me that they had partnerships with other hospitals/clinics, so I would not have to drive back and forth for ultrasounds. I started the process and when I was ready for my ultrasound I attempted to make an appointment. I was told that they no longer worked with Kindbody and I called the office. The office rushed to find me a place to do the ultrasound but because it was not partnered and not covered by insurance, I paid $1800 out of pocket. Moving forward I literally had to commute 3.5 hours both ways from Rhode Island to New York which costs aside was incredibly stressful because I was also working night shift. During my retrieval the providers were incredible; however, they had made an appointment with my follow up provider and she called me three hours earlier than my set appointment and never returned my call. I felt like the approach was incredibly holistic and than after, felt like they had gotten their money and didn’t need me anymore. On to fiscal transparency, the storage rates from last year to now have doubled. Just be careful before you make such a serious decision with egg retrieval and really do your homework. I will never make this mistake again.

Update: changing from 2 stars to 1 star because of the BS the billing department continues to put me through. They were harassing me for payment and when I tried to respond (at least 8 times?) they would disappear. Turns out they “didn’t assign my payment to the invoice” and I am actually owed nearly $500. Now it’s refund time and they are conveniently not responding again. Over it—-avoid at all costs. ————— Believe the good reviews, believe the bad reviews. Pros: 1. Most of the providers are very nice. You will feel like they are championing you, and they make you feel comfortable during a very emotional and vulnerable process. 2. The offices are modern and the decor is warm and inviting. Much more calming than a regular sterile doctor office. Cons: 1. I only met my doctor once, at the initial meeting. She ripped through a helpful presentation at breakneck speed. It was a lot of data that would help me drive decisions, and I asked if she could send me a copy and she said she couldn't. There was information that she talked about that I didn't find in any materials that they provided. 2. There was an important PDF that broke down my medications. I only received it on doing my second retrieval, not my first, and was like "this would have been helpful." 3. The online portal is theoretically helpful. However, I have 3 things "to do" that are still marked as needed to be done, and I've done all of them. (My process started in April, it's now November.) This would cause the things I actually needed to do to be nested under these. 4. The initial consultation was $1,300. I was not told of this fee, and they send me the invoice 4 months after the consultation (I think I had already done 3 retrievals at that point) so that was a delightful little surprise. 5. This whole process is extremely time-sensitive and while they have quick turnarounds, deadlines were missed because it would take a few days to hear from someone. 6. There are two NYC offices. I was even told by the staff that retrievals in summer were slower. However, I frequently only had 1 time slot available for a mandatory appointment even with TWO OFFICES TO CHOOSE FROM. One time it was at 7am and I had to get up at 3:45am to make it on time. I understand that fertility is not something that can be mapped out, but the lack of options on appointment times was shocking. If you have a strict work schedule, this is not the place for you. 7. YOU MUST BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE. I was told that an anesthesiologist would reach out to me--they never did. Then I was told that my nurse would reach out to me to get set up ahead of my period--she never did. Then I was like "hey, my period is coming soon, what do I need to do?" and she promised to reach out to my doctor and clearly forgot. Then my period started and it was an absolute scramble to get me started on time. I don't know if the nurses have way too many patients or if just my nurse was flaky, but I never felt like she was on top of things. 8. Like I mentioned, I did several retrievals back to back. Each time they acted startled when my period arrived and it was a scramble to get ready in time. I even warned them that my period comes quickly and it was like Groundshogs Day each time. 9. The billing team is wild. The invoices on the portal don't match what you were charged. My last retrieval was 2 months ago and I'm still sorting things out. They claim I owe them money, when according to their invoices and what has been taken out of their account, they actually owe me money. 10. I've had to correct several errors on their end related to my insurance, my co-insurance, and also conflicting medication dosage information that was in my portal versus was in this pre-op PDF they sent.

I cannot recommend Kindbody enough. I went to Tia because it was close to home but I felt extremely overlooked and gaslit about my own fertility. The staff at Kindbody took time to listen to my concerns and ran all necessary tests to help me figure out why I wasn’t getting pregnant. I am now past the egg retrieval stage and am very impressed with their service and communications through this very sensitive experience.
