The fact that we were unsuccessful in our IVF journey is not the reason for this review. I felt compelled to share my experience as I wanted to provide prospective patients with an honest account of our experience. It is unfortunate that Heartland is the only fertility clinic in the province. If I could go back and do things differently, I would have explored clinics in other provinces, and I would encourage others to do the same before proceeding with treatment. I do want to acknowledge that every nurse I interacted with, as well as one of the physicians, provided exceptional care. They were compassionate, supportive, and wonderful throughout a difficult time. However, I still struggle to understand the clinic’s approach to communication. The way heartbreaking news is delivered can feel impersonal. I learned that our second embryo transfer had failed through a generic copy-and-paste message in the app. While I was obviously devastated by this result, I also felt an unexpected sense of relief knowing that my interactions with the clinic were coming to an end. Throughout much of this process, I felt more like a burden than a patient. I was often anxious about asking for what I considered basic courtesies, such as a conversation with a physician following a failed transfer. I had assumed that after such a significant loss, a physician would proactively reach out to offer support, discuss the outcome, and review our options moving forward. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. On multiple occasions, I found myself initiating discussions about follow-up care and next steps. During one of the more vulnerable periods of my life, I often felt like a number rather than a person navigating an incredibly challenging journey. I believe there is a significant opportunity to make the patient experience more personal and supportive, particularly when it comes to physician communication. Whether this reflects my individual physician’s approach or a broader clinic-wide practice, patients deserve more direct communication and support during such emotionally difficult circumstances.

My husband and I are grateful to Heartland fertility clinic that we are parents to a baby boy. He is perfect . We had him after struggling with infertility for more than 5 years and a failed IVF round in India. We went in with zero hopes but the outcome has been the most fulfilling. Dr Olga Haakman was our doctor and she is one of the kindest and most empathetic doctor. She explains each and every procedure / Step with scientific rationale and reasearch backing it. Does her homework before each appointment and takes the effort to make you feel heard. All the staff were very professional and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience and highly recommend going to them earliest if you’re struggling with infertility.

I have tried more than half a dozen times to reschedule an intake appointment, I have spoken 2oth the receptionists several times eith promise to have a response same day. Not once have I been met with follow up or anything remotely close to appropriate or considerate customer service. Your receptionists are either dismissive, rude, overwhelmed or a combo and thats with my own hope that that is the case. You are a fertility clinic. Women are your audience. Treat them with kindness and respect, we aren't coming to you like its a beauty clinic. And please upper management reinforce that client care and consideration in how they are treated are what maintain your operational income its not a hospital or fully publicly funded resource. Do better. I will absolutely be seeking services elsewhere after over a year of attempts to make an appointment happen.

I truly am grateful for heartland I had two successful embryo transfers with them. The doctor I saw both times dr Elliot is the best he’s very kind and explains everything. Every nurse I’ve met is very nice and kind. But I will say this Nicole wasn’t my favourite to deal with, she can be quite rude and moody. Especially when you ask her questions. My first experience with her back in 2020 was not good, she wasn’t nice what’s so ever. She gave me wrong information and wasn’t the least sorry about it. To work in this type of field I feel you need to be compassionate towards people. That’s my only complaint. Other than that heartland is great place and I’ll be Forever grateful for them.

I had a great experience with Dr. Burkett! She really listens to her patients and made sure to order all the necessary lab tests to understand my concerns. The clinic itself is very clean and well-organized, and the reception staff are accommodating, friendly, and kind. I truly appreciate the care and professionalism from everyone here
