Reviews
My husband and I tried to conceive for two years before seeking help, and I had just been diagnosed with PCOS when I became a patient at Anova Fertility. From the start, I felt confident in their expertise and truly appreciated the care, communication, and patient choice they provided. We began with testing and cycle monitoring, then moved to a plan for timed intercourse, starting with the least invasive approach. When the first cycles were unsuccessful, the team thoughtfully adjusted the plan. We were overjoyed to conceive, though it unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. The care and compassion I received during that time meant everything. Determined to try again, I continued treatment. After one more unsuccessful cycle, I wanted to move to IUI, but the team encouraged us to try timed intercourse once more. Trusting their guidance, we conceived our rainbow baby. Their support continued into early pregnancy, with close monitoring that identified a small subchorionic hematoma, which resolved quickly. The ultrasound techs and nurses were incredibly kind, informative, and shared in our excitement every step of the way. I am so grateful to have graduated from Anova. Special thanks to Isabel, who guided our treatment plan, and Angie at the front desk, who always greeted me warmly and celebrated each milestone with me. Anova is truly lucky to have them.
⸻ I am leaving a 2-star review because, while the individual staff members were kind and compassionate, my overall experience with the clinic was disappointing. After receiving a negative test result last July (which I saw myself through LifeLabs), I did not receive a phone call to review the results or discuss next steps. I did not hear from anyone until November regarding storage fees, and then again in January for additional storage fees. It is also important to note that if you complete more than one embryo round, you are charged separate storage fees for each round — something that was not clearly communicated upfront. During the six months leading up to my transfer, I repeatedly had to reach out to the clinic to ask about next steps while actively in the middle of a transfer cycle. This created unnecessary stress during an already emotionally difficult time. The nurses I interacted with were kind, but there appeared to be frequent staffing changes, as I had multiple different nurses throughout my care. Overall, I felt there was a lack of proactive communication and follow-up, and at times it felt more focused on billing than patient support.
I first became a patient with Anova in 2021 and over the last four years the nursing, admin, and other frontline staff have consistently been kind, patient, and compassionate. Unfortunately, I lost trust in the clinic and ultimately chose to seek care elsewhere. If you value transparency, accountability, good communication, and informed decision-making, avoid this clinic. There were problems in communication, billing, basic testing, attention to detail in the medical history, and informed consent that predated the events that finally ended my trust in the clinic that are too numerous to included in a Google review. Among them, double-billing and missing receipts; I asked to be put on the OHIP funded round waitlist in December 2023, but they failed to do so; wrong appointment locations; outdated and inaccurate information about donors; contracts were nonsensical and irrelevant to my situation (and more). In October, I had an adverse reaction to a medication in what should have been my first transfer cycle (in a follow up call about my care, Dr Dixon said I never should have been on that protocol in the first place, and blamed Dr Giffin for that error). An alternate care plan that I was glad to have and felt optimistic about continuing was then established. A few hours later, the nursing team called and told me I had continue the protocol that had harmed me if I wished to continue with the transfer that cycle. This was communicated to me through nurses at the end of the day, followed by a voicemail and an email that I experienced as patronizing and dismissive. In later conversations, Dr Dixon and Dr Giffin blamed each other for what happened, with no one taking responsibility for the mistakes. The chaotic decisions and poor communication disrupted my care, caused further unnecessary delay, and added to my costs (I was charged $1000 for 'choosing' to cancel the cycle that Anova so comprehensively messed up). I feel like a fool for wasting so much time and most of my savings with a clinic that (at a leadership and system level) is deeply dysfunctional.
I had a truly positive experience at Anova. From the very first appointment, the entire team was professional, compassionate, and incredibly supportive. The physicians took the time to listen carefully, explain every step clearly, and made sure I always felt informed and respected. The nursing staff and coordinators were equally wonderful kind, responsive, and genuinely caring and creates a calm, welcoming. I’m very grateful for the expertise and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking high-quality fertility and reproductive health care.
As a fashion designer, I had the great honor of meeting and collaborating with Anova Fertility and Dr. Dixon. Their support has been truly invaluable - words can hardly express how deeply I appreciate it. Anova Fertility creates the most important miracle in this world - the joy of bringing new life into being. There is nothing more profound or beautiful than the birth of a child, and the doctors who make this miracle possible embody love in its purest form. I am especially grateful to the Anova team for supporting our charity project for children who lost their parents during the war. Thanks to their kindness, we were able to organize the first group of children who will travel for healing by the sea. This clinic has a big, honest heart, endlessly filled with genuine love and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Anova Fertility - a place where people can trust their most precious dream: the dream of life itself. With deep gratitude, Kateryna Lukashyk 💛
