Avoid at all costs

Hello old post but I have news…. We went to Walter Reed “Art Institute” (now new owner/mngment Shady Grove) starting in Jan 2022. We being older went with egg extraction and artificial ensemination. They didn’t notify us that we had to fast for this out patient procedure. So, when we arrived at the appointment they wouldn’t do the extraction. Instead they thawed my husbands sperm and artificially enseminated. Failed to conceive. We adopted 6 eggs from a national bank. Art institute ICSI the eggs and only three were good enough. We transferred one year later and failed. We kept the remaining “embryos” and aperm for two yrs. After failed three procedure with Walter Reed ~$35k ish. No cost for meds supplies or Dr visits. We have pics of the embryos they did not looks like the ones online. Three yrs later we stopped everything at water reed and went to local Shady grove office. We are expecting a boy this Sep/oct. ~$9k ( meds labs dr visits through tricare, local private providers not Walter Reed). In summary: we lost so much going to a teaching facility at Walter Reed. The providers there are military officers on 6-24 mo rotations. Their labs - not trustworthy - and yet the most important in IVF. Three painful (emotional rollercoater) yrs later our decision to avoid Walter Reed paid off. During the first year while waiting at the WR pharmacy another mother-in-wanting approached us because she recognized the special bag we received. She had been at WR 3 yrs and they have three embryos left of six. Three failed. We didn’t hear her. We paid the consequence of lost years and money. WR ivf has new ownership -shady grove. However shady grove people are not running it. It is the same education teaching of military docs in there.

Do NOT use this place. I can list so many reasons but the last one “the straw that broke the camels back” was we provided 6 donor eggs from a reputable bank. ART claimed only two “took.” Of the two, there were no signs of growth in the egg prior to transfer. Neither resulted in pregnancy. We had four previous encounter with procedure with ART. There are zero a accountability and if one presses them, they fall back to “father issue, mother issue”. Hence four failures. father has three kids prev marriage, mother has perfect clock cycles. Father has vasectomy reversal - only “issue”. After reversal all normal. This place is cheaper than other places - our reason we went there. After three years (the wait process and process) and 48$k later nada. We had ICSI, and everything they “offered”. The pics on two embryos were NOT like the ones you can view using google and normal transferable embryos. Save time, emotions, and at least $ by going to local one that has a good reputation - better than 5-10% chance.
