I've been trying to schedule my post partum check up and my next depo shot for weeks now. I call and I'm on hold for over 2 hours each time. I find it very hard to believe that it takes that long to schedule others appointments. I was supposed to have a 6 week post partum check up, not a 14 week post partum check up! Absolutely insane how awful it is.

Was referred to see an ob here due to having periods lasting an entire month. The doctor I saw diagnosed me with having pcos on the spot, no tests done. Even though my primary had insisted on wanting an ultrasound, the ob said it wouldn't show anything and would be a waste of time but would schedule one. In regards to fixing my problem she prescribed either loosing weight or going on birth control. My husband and I went for loosing weight since we are trying to have kids.... still have not heard a single word from her about a follow up or the ultrasound promised. It has been over three months now.. and yes I have been calling.

Who leaves at 1300 on a Wednesday... Especially before a 4 day weekend. They don't care about people. The signs trying to find the OB/GYN are fine outside but almost non-existent inside. Then when we finally find our way there and they tell us they closed, they don't even have the common courtesy to show us the easy way in and out. Really unhelpful staff. Hopefully the rest of the visits aren't like this.

The reviews below sound bad, so naturally I was nervous about my appointment. From the second I walked in I was treated well. The receptionist even went as far as to walk me to the food court, because I had no idea where anything was on this campus. The nurses were friendly and answered my questions in a professional way. I feel like if you base your decision to seek a ob/gyn off of the reviews, you might end up paying out of pocket to see someone else in town. It was a pleasant experience. The doctor didn’t make me feel like I needed to rush my appointment either.

Positive point: Delivering my baby at Balboa was a great experience for us, the staff is awesome- but those were mainly the nurses at delivery and postpartum that we have to thank for that, OB-GYN care here really didn’t have much to do with that. Dr. A was great, but after having the baby the care really went downhill from there. Negative: when I was pregnant, to get a new patient appointment I called twice and was on hold for about 45 minutes both times, not even kidding. The hospital directed me several places to finally get to OBGYN line and basically was told that I needed to come in person to schedule my appointment. After that, scheduling prenatal visits was easy because I never did them over the phone but in person. The terrible service really came after we had our baby. I was having issues with the birth control I was on, one that they gave me after I delivered. So they told me to go to their walk-in birth control clinic, I went in twice, about 20 minutes after they opened. They told me that their maximum capacity for birth control procedures is 9 people, and that they could not see me, both times. When I went to the Kearny Mesa branch walk-in clinic they told me that they recently changed their walk in hours and the doctor was not available to see me.. even though the hours on their website said they were open. They are rude and unhelpful, and don’t mind making you wait several hours only to tell you no. I understand that they are probably under staffed and under funded being a military facility, but obviously the walk in clinic isn’t really working out for them anyways if all they can see is 9-10 patients each clinic opening. Why not just make appointment slots for birth control so that girls who expect to be seen that day are actually seen? It’s truly the sloppiest and rudest healthcare clinic I have ever been to. Oh and also, they don’t open their urine sample box until 30 minutes after they start walk in clinic hours, so a girl had to sit in the waiting room holding her own filled urine cup for 20 minutes. Seems healthy and all. I don’t understand why a nurse just didn’t take it from her. It’s really just simple service, and they’re quite bad at it.
