I waited half a year for this appointment at Dr. Vanessa Bacal's office. I confirmed by phone and by text. Two days before the appointment, this is the email I received from her assistant, in its entirety: "Hello, Appointment cancelled. Sincerely, Maureen Assistant to Dr. Vanessa Bacal" Are you kidding me? Just two words? No acknowledgment that a human being on the other end of that screen has spent months waiting, hoping, and planning. This is the standard of communication Dr. Bacal at Mount Sinai Fertility has decided is acceptable for her patients. Yes, the office requires an email confirmation, and that requirement is disclosed in writing. But by the time this cancellation landed in my inbox, the office already had a phone confirmation and a text confirmation from me, even a request for an earlier appointment in case of cancelations. Every signal they had said: "this patient intends to show up." A reasonable person, let alone a medical office that specializes in fertility care, could see that. Instead of a five-second nudge ("just a heads up, we still need an email confirmation by end of day"), they reached straight for the cancel button, and those two emails take the same effort. I was genuinely confused, butI replied immediately, within minutes, to say I did not want the appointment cancelled, Maureen's only response was to re-paste her original email, as if cutting and pasting the same thing twice somehow made it more humane. When I informed her that I had confirmed over the phone, I was just ignored. This is a fertility clinic. The people sitting in Dr. Bacal's waiting room are, by definition, in one of the heaviest emotional stretches of their lives. For most of us, it takes courage to make that call, let alone having to come in carrying grief, fear, shame, and a thread of hope that gets thinner with every passing month. Any clinician working in this field knows this. Dr. Bacal knows this, isn't this what the practice is built around? And this is what Mount Sinai Fertility decided is good enough for the people who place that hope in their hands: a two-word dismissal and a policy weaponized against patients. I'm honestly not sure whether I'm more upset at the six months I'll never get back, or relieved I now know, before any treatment, any investment, any heartbreak, exactly how little this office thinks of the patients who walk through its doors. We know how hard it is to work in this field, and most patients extend a generous amount of grace to the people inside it. The hard parts of healthcare do not excuse the choice to be this cold and treat people like just a slot in your calendar, especially those who come to you seeking help in their journey of building a family.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the care Dr Nigel Pereira has provided to me and my family. Throughout my fertility journey, they have been an absolute blessing not just as a medical professional, but as a source of immense support and strength. I truly feel they have a calling for this work. Their kindness and dedication are unparalleled, and I feel so fortunate to be under their care. May they continue to be a light for others!

I would not recomment to do IVF at this clinic. Read my review and judge for yourself. After IVF started I didnt see my doctor even once. During the second embrio transfer, the nurses forgot that I am on thyroid medication. They called to inform me about early pregnancy LH levels and when I asked about thyroid, they litterally said: Ohhh you are on thyroid medication? Increase the dose immediately! But it was too late. Later when I commented about it to the clinic and doctor, they just didn't say anything. Clear fact: they missed the most important information from my file.

have been a patient at this clinic for over a year. During that time, I’ve completed around 7 IUIs and also attempted IVF. I’ve been patient, respectful, and loyal throughout this process. Unfortunately, my experience has recently taken a very disappointing turn. Over the past week, I have sent two emails and called the nursing station three separate times to report my day1 with no response. Being completely ghosted by a fertility clinic especially one that claims to be open 365 days a year is unacceptable. The lack of communication and follow-up is alarming, particularly given how emotionally and physically demanding fertility treatment is. So I finally got a call back. And my IVF funding was no longer available. Apparently every year around this time there is no funding for IVF until March or April according to staff I spoke too. I was disappointed bc the plan was to attempt IVF in january! This was the plan made between me, my partner and the doctor in December. What’s most frustrating is that I’ve often felt like just a number here. Appointments feel rushed, like an assembly line get in, get out with very little investigation into why I am not getting pregnant after 1 year. I trusted this clinic to guide me, look deeper, and advocate for my care. Instead, I feel misled and misdirected. Mind you this is my second fertility clinic in my journey. I never expected perfection, but I did expect communication, compassion, and accountability. At this point, the lack of response after everything I’ve invested time, money, and emotional energy—is incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone looking for individualized, attentive fertility care.

We had a wonderful experience at Mount Sinai Fertility Clinic with Dr. Pereira. The entire team was compassionate, attentive, and took the time to truly understand our case. Dr. Pereira guided us with empathy and clear information at every step, never rushing or pressuring us. We felt genuinely cared for throughout our journey and are grateful for the support that led to our successful outcome. Highly recommend Dr. Pereira and the Mount Sinai Fertility team!
