Reviews

I came to this practice to have monitoring done because I received IVF at a clinic in San Francisco. Just needed weekly ultrasounds and bloodwork. Week 1, everything went great. The lady that does ultrasounds is wonderful. Love her. Even gave me printouts of my ultrasounds on week one and 2. Also brought my husband because I feel better with him there. Now when it comes to blood draws. I’m a hard draw. I’m completely opaque covered in tattoos. Thankfully I’m a phlebotomist with 20 years experience and we have all practiced on each other enough to know where the good veins are. So I show every single person who draws my blood where the good vein is so they don’t go for the one that looks good and miss.. because it rolls. Nobody in all this time has ever had an issue with this. Day 1 the girl was lovely and listened. Husband was there Day 2 the girl listened but she seemed upset that I told her where to stab. No biggie.. she listened. Husband was also there. Day 3 I come in and the girl in the ultrasound is being different. Still nice but distant. Just thought she was having an off day. No big deal. We all do. Go to get blood drawn. It’s a different girl. I explain to her where the vein is. She said “well I’m gonna do it where I want and it’ll be fine” so I let her and she missed. She also didn’t have a glove on. Instead of putting on a glove to clean me she proceeded to clean me with her ungloved hand. I jerked back… of course because that’s gross. Where are the universal precautions?! She then went to poke me again and I pulled back. She said she was going to get her supervisor. Her supervisor, Michelle, came in also without a glove on, with acrylic chipped nails, and touched my vein… with no glove.. where it was bleeding. And I said “no” and she said “I was a paramedic, I know what I’m doing”.. and then drew my blood. When I left I asked the girl at the checkout counter to please note that I would like the girl who initially did my blood draws to do them from now on. When I left I called and spoke with my clinical coordinator and she instructed me to call and report this to the office manager. I did so and I was even really nice about it and asked if I could just please not have those people and if they could please maybe explain to them that that’s not sanitary and they can cause an infection like that. It seemed like the conversation went well. A bit later my doctor called me and told me that I was banned from the clinic and that the clinical supervisor told my coordinator that I took the needle out of their hand and tried to stab my self. They also said that they had me on video on two different appointments trying to take the “butterfly” away from them. First, a butterfly was never used on me. Second, my husband was there to witness the first two appointments and he can verify that’s a lie. Third, we tried to obtain said video and miraculously they couldn’t give it to us. So.. because I didn’t want to have a hard pregnancy and drive the long distance to Sacramento with an Ivf baby in my uterus I called to apologize to Michelle the office manager. Even though I knew I wasn’t in the wrong. I didn’t want to put any more pressure on my body. I sat in a room with my husband and my grandma on speaker phone and hey listened to her tell me that she sanitized her hands outside the room and that it was okay that sometimes they don’t use a glove because they need to find the vein. I apologized and she said she would talk to her office manager and everything would be great. No.. she called my coordinator and told her so called her and threatened her and threatened to have the business shut down. My coordinator is still as of this very moment trying to get these recordings… That never happened and I was always really kind to everyone in there.. Anyway.. fast forward a couple weeks.. I’ve had a miscarriage. This place is awful. I cannot imagine working in a place where women go for help and then treating them like actual garbage. All for what? Because you have monopoly?

It's taken me awhile to write this review because I've been so upset with what this clinic took away from me - time, money, and a chance to expand our family. We did over 10 IUIs and 2 IVF cycles with this clinic. During IUI, they dismissed my concerns about my husbands low sperm count. For the IVF rounds, they used the same protocol each round and when we came up with only abnormal embryos on the second round, told us the best options was to use donor eggs. After this, I changed clinics and my new doctor quickly diagnosed me with a c-section scar defect and stage 4 endometriosis - issues completely overlooked by this clinic. The new doctor also immediately noticed my husbands counts and sent us to a urologist who diagnosed him with a large varicocele - again completely overlooked by this clinic. With these new diagnosis, it became obvious that our time at NCRM was a complete waste of time and money as we would have never been successful without addressing the underlying issues. They simply failed to look past the surface and actually give personalized care. Even when I tried to use them for outside monitoring (which I really didn't want to but they are the only option in town) the care was appalling. For example, one scan inaccurately shoed zero follicles when a week later, my new doctor confirmed I had 30 (all previous scans I've had always show 20-30). Their attention to detail and quality of patient care are severely lacking. It feels like this clinic takes advantage of being the only clinic in town, providing subpar, impersonal care while profiting off families dreams. Please, if you can travel out of town for fertility care, do it. Do not waster your time, money and dreams on this clinic.

Take this review for what it is. We were unsuccessful with our five IUI attempts (three full) at this center with Dr. Whitten so it is written with disappointment. But our disappointment goes further than us not being able to conceive. And that is with how this place is run. The other negative reviews appear to be correct in their assessment that this is a money grabbing facility. There is little empathy, there is little rapport built between staff and clients, they never answer the phone, and get ready to never see Dr. Whitten. In our one year of seeking care here, we saw Dr. Whitten twice. The one positive that we can report about this place is Amanda. She was incredibly sweet, caring, and personable. Unfortunately, we did not get to see her for every appointment. So get ready to also bounce between nurses. This is a very vulnerable time in a couples life. There was no follow ups, there was no check ins, and all appointments were so quick we felt like we were rushed in and out as fast as we could. Appointments were 15 - 29 minutes and for us ran anywhere between $375-$800, which wasn’t covered by insurance at all. Our most recent and last IUI attempt was a major disappointment. We did not even receive a call from Dr. Whitten’s office for our results. We found out online through our primary’s online portal. And that was our final straw. Unfortunately, this is the only fertility center near us which was a one hour drive each way. We will now be seeking a second option and going to a new doctor. Hopefully this doctor will demonstrate more professionalism, a caring approach, and will not be in it only for the money. If you live in or near the Reno area. We would highly recommend doing your research before jumping into care with this facility. It might be worth the drive to go somewhere else.

We had such a wonderful experience with Dr.Whitten office for me I struggled in the beginning not hearing much from the doctor himself but then I had to realize that the nurse coordinators and Medical assistant were just doing their job helping out the doctor because the doctor can’t do it all. With that being said anytime I had a question they would ask the doctor and get back to me in a timely manner. Everyone was extremely kind and knowledgeable we highly recommend Dr. whitten. We are officially pregnant this is also our first time going through the IVF process . We couldn’t have done without such an amazing team. Thank you guys sooo much for helping our dreams come true. The facility is always so neat and clean when we arrived we never had any issues with the wait time before our appointments. Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed..

I'm overjoyed to share that my dream has come true—I'm pregnant, thanks to the incredible team at this fertility clinic! The nurses have been outstanding, always responding promptly to emails, answering every question with kindness and sweetness. Their level of care has been exceptional. Dr. Whitten's patience and genuine concern have been a cornerstone of my journey. He consistently took the time to answer my questions, never rushing through appointments. His friendliness and deep care for his patients have made this experience extraordinary. I am so grateful for the top-notch care I received at this clinic, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others on their path to parenthood.
