Alex J Steinleitner, MD Let me start out by saying that this is the first negative review for a business that I have ever done publicly on the Internet. I have made it a point to only submit good reviews for businesses to help out the general public making decisions on where to conduct business. With that being said, I am very eager to release this review to the public so that other people that are in the position to try and get pregnant through IVF can be warned. Dear Alex Steinleitner, You are by far the absolute worst doctor I’ve ever had the displeasure of coming into contact with. Besides the fact that your facility is old and dingy, the staff at your facility is the worst I’ve ever encountered. The attitude and climate of your staff is the responsibility of you, the doctor and leader of the office. We should have canceled the entire thing after the first awkward zoom meeting on the computer. You are very impersonal and made my wife feel stupid for asking simple questions, like “ should I be taking a prenatal?” You have no bedside manner and your awkward sense of humor is very discomforting. Second red flag was when we were told that I was not allowed to come to any of the in person appointments or even to be there for the first ultrasound to see the heartbeat of my new child. When we asked why on earth, I was not able to come into the visits, we were told that it was because one of your staff has an immune compromised system. I have a very simple solution, put that person in the back closet where they belong so that you’re paying clients have the proper experience that they need. Next, you need to be honest to clients about the true cost of the procedures before they start. We asked for a breakdown of all the cost before we started, and then got hit with surprise bills for different parts of procedures after it was already crucial that we move forward with them. That’s called price gouging. And lastly, the straw that broke the camels back for me was the fact that after the failed embryo transfer my wife did not even get a phone call or a message from you, Alex J Steinleitner AT ALL. Still no call to this day. Maybe you should consider another profession where you’re not dealing with people in the most fragile emotional state of their life, or maybe you could actually give a shit about your clients? We understand that you are running a for-profit business but you treat people like they are only a dollar sign and it really shows. We will be sure to mention to anyone and everyone that asks about IVF to stay clear of San Luis Obispo Simple IVF Centers. I am happy to report that our new doctor in Santa Barbara is everything that we could have hoped and wished for. Great facility, great staff and wonderful Doctor Who actually listens and cares and looks you in the eye and explains things to you in a way that will be receptive with kindness. Jason Lopez

A list of reasons you should NOT go to Simple IVF Centers with Dr. Steinleitner. The Dr. has a horrible sense of dry humor and bed side manner, probably one of the most awkward and uncomfortable people I’ve ever met. He won’t allow your partner into the clinic for any appointment not even the transfer or any ultra sounds and I was never told that at the beginning, but when you ask the Dr why, his answer is because they have immune compromised workers. They would rather have thousands of women with fertility issues be all alone during an extremely emotional and very hard time in life without their partner because of 1 person in their office who is afraid to get sick.. pathetic… You are having patients pay you a significant amount of money and think it’s ok to inform us half way through that our partners will not be allowed to be apart of the process, why not just ask everyone to wear a mask… oh WAIT you already do that, yet your patients husband can’t step foot inside your facility, they must stay in their car…they aren’t even allowed in the front waiting room. We were quoted a certain amount that everything would cost before beginning and months later we were informed that we have to pay $8,000 more on top of the quoted amount. The finance lady than lied to me and said it was because we decided to do genetic testing but I had already decided that in the first week speaking with her and confirmed with her..The quote should have been updated and given to us from the start. On the day of transfer I was told to come in with a full bladder, the nurses had me pee 6 times (apparently my bladder was too full) on my 6th trip to the restroom I told them I don’t think I can pee anymore or I won’t have anything left in my bladder. They said no it’s still too full so I peed for about 5 seconds and came back into room and they both sighed loudly when they looked at my bladder on the ultra sound and I had no urine left in my bladder and the Dr. still proceeded to do my transfer with an empty bladder. The most upsetting part about this whole experience is even after my 5AA embryo failed and I was absolutely devastated and heartbroken finding out on Christmas Eve, I still to this day have not had a phone call or message from the HORRIBLE Alex Steinlightner… I spent 6 months preparing and communicating with him and filling this mans wallet with money and he can’t even call me to ease my mind or explain anything. I will tell everyone I know to never step foot in that building and the horror stories that come with his practice

The best! The staff was so amazing. And Dr. Steinleitner is incredible. He is so kind and understanding. I always felt heard and appreciated under his care. We now have a 4 month old little girl and will definitely be using them for our second baby.

It's been a long time since we worked with Dr. Steinleitner back in San Francisco, and I know him to be a wonderful doctor with a wit and wonderful sense of humor, who will tell you how he sees it, and will listen to your needs too. He is also engaged through the whole infertility process with his patients, and was even at the birth of our son along with the pediatrician and obstetrical team. Because of Dr. Steinleitner's skill and knowledge, I have a son from my first round of ICSI and he is turning 32 this year. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Steinleitner and his team to help us conceive. We moved away and tried 4 more IVF procedures elsewhere for a 2nd child and they all failed, so we went back to Dr. Steinleitner and conceived, but sadly miscarried early in the 1st trimester. Dr. Steinleitner is a perfectionist and knows what he's doing, and I can't recommend him highly enough.
